Safe in the Storm
The world has experienced numerous disasters at different times with varying impacts on people. Some are repetitive, but the frequency of occurrences also differs.
You must have heard reports similar to one of the following: the worst economic crisis in three decades, the most sinister natural disaster in a century or perhaps a health crisis that has claimed the most lives for a generation.
You may wonder why, but some things do not just happen. Some people know about them in advance; some provide warnings or information on how to avoid the devastation ahead.
If you knew disaster was coming in the future and what to do to stop it, would you do it? If you knew what to do to avoid it, would you be happy to do it? I presume your answer is in the affirmative.
“Everything may look fine now, but not in the future, so you may need to do something now that may not seem necessary for today but will save you for tomorrow.”
Noah, son of Lamech, was privileged to know about the dangers ahead in his time. He was inspired to build an ark because of a flood that would happen in the future. He knew that no one would survive the flood except those in the ark. He built the ark when it seemed there was no need for one, and to the many people around him, they could not see the reason for any in the future.
You may have found people like Noah in your generation. They may appear strange because what they are doing does not seem relevant for now but could be the ark of safety that would guarantee the escape from the dangers that lie ahead or preserve a great tomorrow.
He completed the building of the ark despite all criticisms and mockery. He informed the people ahead of the floods, but many did not heed his warnings—they chose not to listen. They could not see ahead and did not know it was true until it came upon them suddenly, but by then, it was too late, so they were destroyed by the flood.
Everything may look fine now, but not in the future, so you may need to do something now that may not seem necessary for today but will save you for tomorrow.
The problems you are facing today could be because of the warning signs you had ignored in the past. You may have despised the ark of safety and the warning signs of danger.
“The people that understand the warning signs prepare ahead to avoid the danger, but those who do not or choose to ignore them will not act until it comes upon them suddenly.”
There is an ark of safety that could provide refuge in times of storm for any individual, family, community, or nation. You need to know what to do and where to be before the storm starts. The people that understand the warning signs prepare ahead to avoid the danger, but those who do not or choose to ignore them will not act until it comes upon them suddenly.
Are you ignoring any warning signs? Are you neglecting any crucial information about the future? The people you are mocking today may well be preparing for the future—their actions may not seem necessary or relevant, but it is not for now—it is for later.
What you are going through now could perhaps be avoided if you had taken some actions in the past. You probably did not know or perhaps disregarded the signs and the people that provided relevant information.
It is never too late to act because help is available. You can choose to reconsider your actions and begin to seek how to get into the ark of safety before the floods of the future would arrive.
