Have you ever thought that you are no longer relevant? Everyone once wanted to listen to you but not anymore. Your skills were in high demand but that changed before you knew it, a business that was once profitable became a business going into administration or struggling to survive.
You were able to go to work and all of sudden there is no more work. You had a flourishing business and overnight it ended. You have been out of debt but now you are neck-deep in debt. There was a continuous source of income but it dried up before you realised. Your goods and services were in high demand but that all changed in the twinkle of an eye. You enjoyed a boom in business for several years and then you were overtaken, all your loyal customers and income were diverted while you watch helplessly. It seems you are no longer relevant, isn’t it? Is that true?
This a clear picture of the situation around the world today as we witness the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic not only the loss of human lives but also significant consequences on the economy. It is likely to cost the global economy one trillion dollars in 2020 according to the UN’s trade and development agency.
Oil has always been in great demand, with so many nations depending on it, but for the first time in history, the US oil prices fell into negative which implies that buyers are paid to take oil from suppliers. Have you ever thought that there will anytime like this? Lowest demand for oil, because the aeroplanes are grounded, also cars, boats, ships and other oil-dependent machines have limited use at the moment thus causing little or no demand.
No doubt, the world has been affected by the current pandemic and that means challenging times for individuals, families, businesses, and nations around the world. It has changed the status of so many and it seems they are no longer relevant as many experience losses or the fear losses of jobs, business, and income. The rich and the poor are affected, one more than the other.
What can you do at such times and is it possible to find relevance is any situation even in Crisis?
It is very difficult to accept change and many will agree that they would rather prefer to continue the same way than to change. Interestingly, even if we do not desire or effect change ourselves, sometimes we are forced to change by the effect of the change initiated by someone or something else. Have you noticed changes in your life and you never did anything to bring about the change? Are you seeing changes around you without any input of yours? The world is changing before our very eyes and that at a very rapid and alarming rate such that many cannot even cope with the change and many others are no able to process the change or understand the full implications as it affects them now and the future.
What do you do when a change has affected you?
I will like to share some tips that could help you find relevance in times of Crisis.
To be continued next week, don’t miss it.
Please feel free to share this post if you found it useful, and remember to get in touch as I would appreciate your comments and would like to hear from you.
