Solve the problems created by the crisis
The world is full of problems that need solutions. Problems are everywhere and everyone has one problem or the other that could do with a solution.
Do you know why some businesses emerge and suddenly get the attention of many customers? If you check carefully, you may find out that they have solved a problem that affects many people by providing a product or service that such people are willing to patronise.
Online stores are solving a problem. You can shop from the convenience of your home or any location, at any time, as many times as you wish and you get it delivered to your doorstep. They have practically reduced the process required to get what you want. You don’t have to get dressed, board a bus, walk or drive, go around the shopping mall browsing, pushing the trolley, selecting items from differents aisles and floors, queuing at the checkout, paying for the items, buying some snacks or drink (to quench your thirst and hunger or reward yourself for the hard work) and then making your way back home. All you actually wanted was the items and someone found a solution that did just that. Good news! They solved the problems some people face and that solution attracted many to them.
The aeroplane is also solving a particular problem; the problem of transportation. That is right but there are many other means of transportation solving transportation problems, but the aeroplane is solving a unique type of problem which attracts a unique set of people with that problem. If you desire to travel across the Atlantic in one day for a meeting you are likely to be attracted by that solution. That has not solved all transportation problems in the world; there are still many other problems that confront human beings in many other areas of life that need a solution. One less problem at least.
In times of crisis, however, more of these problems are created and therefore more people need help with the new problems they now have and plus the old once they had before. What does that mean? Anyone that has solutions to the problems will be of help and of great relevance.
There will always be a problem and there will always be a need for a solution which means that there will always be a need for a solution provider -someone that can solve the problems being created or has been created.
Crisis brings more problems and those that are able to solve the problems become relevant. How can you become relevant in crisis? It is by solving the problems that have been created by the crisis.
Are you looking for what to do or struggling to find relevance? You may have just stumbled on the answer you have been waiting for.
The pandemic has created fresh new problems added to the many that are already available; these are opportunities for relevance for those that can solve any of the problems.
Many businesses are still able to provide goods and services online when so many others are closed as a result of the coronavirus lockdown; they simply solved a problem created by the crisis thus many customers were attracted to them and rewarded them with their patronage for such a relevant solution.
There are still many other numerous problems created by the crisis affecting individuals, families, communities, businesses, and nations which need solutions.
Can you help solve the problem?
The crisis has brought fear to many, do you have a solution that can help them? Are you able to provide Counselling services to meet such needs around you and even beyond?
As of today, there are over 370,000 deaths recorded around the world as a result of the coronavirus. These are loved ones, children, parents, siblings, colleagues, professionals, leaders, and so on. The problems created by their absence will need a solution that someone may be able to provide.
Some have lost jobs, money, investment or income. They need help, they need information on how to get back up again, they need guidance on how to continue from where they are. Can you provide a service that can solve their problem?
Many are frustrated, angry, lonely, abused, seeking help and answers. They will be attracted to a solution that can solve their problem.
A few people may have become victims of fraud and they need a service that could help solve their problem.
All kinds of problems that need solution. You can help many by providing solutions to their problems.
So many businesses are folding up, some are buying them up, others are forming mergers so as to continue with joint efforts and resources. A few are rebranding and restructuring. Crisis has created a problem; someone has created a solution to the problem. That is relevance.
Some are about to lose their houses for lack of funds, they need help, they have a problem and they need a solution that someone can provide. Can you buy their excess assets to provide cash for them? Can you buy their property to provide a home for them to rent? Can you loan them the funds required for a period of time? Can you provide services that can help their situation? You may be able to buy a property at a discount to solve the problem of a distressed family and in turn, you have an investment opportunity that will be rewarded with capital gains. If there is something you can do, you are relevant.
The government at different levels may be able to help its citizens by buying shares or investing in struggling businesses to provide funds to revive such businesses and keep the jobs of its employees. Temporary tax relief and other forms of rescue support could be a solution to the problem created by the crisis which will, in turn, bring profit to all parties. The welfare of the citizens is the welfare of the nation.
You cannot help every situation; neither can you find all the solutions to all the problems but you can solve a problem that will help someone which in turn may become a benefit to you. You cannot be relevant to every situation but there is something you can do based on your expertise, experience and skills which could be the solution for someone.
Solution may not come except someone makes it happen. Crisis has created so many problems but we can do our part of bringing solutions to those problems in areas we can make a positive difference.
People are not interested in what you know, or your position; they are interested in the problem you can solve and that is what makes you relevant.
It may be helpful to think of what you have and how it can help solve some of the problems you can see around you. People need you but you can only become relevant to them when you can provide solutions to the problems they are experiencing.
To be continued next week, don’t miss it.
