It is not what you know, but what you do that matters.
It is exciting to know that you have stayed on till the end of this series. It is perhaps a sign that it has been a good journey so far. I hope you have found this rewarding, and have gained something that could add value to your life or the lives of those around you.
There are innumerable opportunities to learn from other people in our world. You can significantly add value to your life by recognising and appreciating the enormous pool of human resources and gifts there are around us. The wealth of resources we have in people that have lived, combined with rich knowledge of those living is enough, if well harnessed to maximise your potential and fulfil your purpose.
It is vital to be sincere and truthful to oneself. It is crucial to real. No one knows everything, the wise keeps learning, and that makes them better still. Some will never maximise their potential if they continue to ignore others. Some others will not go further till they come out of the different barriers they have created for themselves. Prejudice has robbed many of a great future.
The answer you need may not all come from the same source. If you need help with your car, you approach the mechanic. If you need help with your teeth, your approach the dentist. If you need help with your hair, you locate the salon. Someone somewhere has what you need. You need to appreciate that and seek for that help. You are not the first to live, and you will not be the last. Appreciate everyone for who they are and be willing to serve and be served.
There are some things you will never know until you are humble to learn from those you may think are lower than you. There are some things you may never understand until you are willing to see the way other people view things. Many things will never make sense to you until you venture into the worlds of others. It may not be clear to you why some people do what they do until you can stand in their shoes. A few things may remain a mystery until you decide to be tough and dedicated. You may not know why some things happen until you can pay the price. You may never experience some until you can sacrifice. You may not know any better until you look beyond your locality, self, people, preferences, barriers, profession, or nationality. Many have been so limited and have short-changed themselves without knowing.
If you learn from the poor or rich, and it makes you a better person. You have gained, and no one can deny your result. The poverty or riches of the person may not affect the quality of the knowledge, but what you have gained will improve the quality of your life. It will not matter if it was from a known or unknown person as long as you can apply it aright. The knowledge is not faithful to whosoever had it first; it produces for anyone that uses it correctly and shows the evidence in an enhanced life. Do not despise the great help that is available to you. Be wise.
I was in a Statistics class, many years ago and my teacher taught on a topic called Frequency in this specific class. It was interesting, but what caught my attention was different. I learnt a crucial lesson. He mentioned some use cases, and acknowledged that there are many more ways that we may decide to use the knowledge. He said that some people use it to do evil while others use it for good. Criminals may use it to monitor their victims, while Police may use it to monitor the criminals. You can use it to plan for something that will add value, but the same subject may also be used by some others to cause harm. It is amazing. I learnt something new. It is not the source of the information that guarantees right or wrong. It is not where you get the information that determines whether you will become a better person. It is how you use the information that determines whether it adds to you or subtracts from you. One person uses it for criminal activity, while another uses it for something productive. It is not what you know but what you do with what you know that matters.
It is good to learn from others, but do so with understanding. You are an original, and you should maintain and enhance your originality. Please, do not lose it to be someone else or a copy. Be your real self. Copy right!
Watch out for a new series next week, don’t miss it.
I hope you have found this post valuable, please leave a comment below and share with others. Send in your questions or contributions as well if you have any, I will be glad to hear from you.
