Knowledge
Have you ever considered why wise builders choose certain products for a project? Among other reasons, they pick what they know or have sufficient information about—knowing what it does and how it could help them achieve their purpose.
It may come as a surprise, but many people suffer because of what they do not know. It may not be accurate to say that some individuals know nothing. Yes, they do have some knowledge, but the problem is that what they know may not be relevant to what they need or what is causing them pain and frustration.
Imagine a hard-working farmer who falls ill but does not know the nature of his sickness. He decided to prescribe medication for himself because he felt that would make him feel better and predicted that he would get better in time for the busy schedule the next day. Unfortunately, he knows so much about farming but not enough about his sickness, so he does not get better; instead, the situation worsens. His friend and a relative took him to the hospital when they were concerned as he was very ill. The doctor confirmed the illness within minutes and prescribed the appropriate medication, which got him back on his feet when he applied it. Nevertheless, the farmer suffered because he did not accept that he did not know.
“Ignorance will continue to cause upset, hurt, and failure until you decide to seek knowledge.”
You may have found some people in the same situation. They provide answers to questions they do not know anything about and assure you of a good outcome even though they have never succeeded in trying it.
Let us consider another skilled individual, a diligent and busy carpenter who drives his van to deliver some furniture he just completed. The vehicle stopped on his way and could not move anymore. The carpenter did not know what had happened but got out of the van and tried some of his tools on random parts of the engine, hoping it would make the vehicle work again. He also demonstrated dissatisfaction, speaking angrily and loudly as if the van could hear, hoping that it would listen to the rebuke and frustration and automatically work again. It was a big wish and costly hope, but all that did not help get the car back working. Instead, the carpenter missed his appointment and lost some income from customers because he was not available—wasted time in the same spot.
“You would not have to suffer in silence if you knew or sought help from those that know.”
No one knows every detail about everything, even if possible, it might be a tall order, but you could admit that you do not know. However, you can seek to learn at least something about what is relevant to you and grow your knowledge to figure out where to get help from those who know.
Some people know about vehicles and can find out what is wrong with them; they are called mechanics. If the carpenter could get one of them, they would have saved him the frustration and the loss.
What do you not know that is generating your loss, pain, and frustration? Unfortunately, ignorance will continue to cause upset, hurt, and failure until you decide to seek knowledge.
Please do yourself a great favour by seeking relevant knowledge and help from those that know. You would not have to suffer in silence if you knew or sought help from those that know. You can act by making an informed decision that will end your pain and improve your life.
