Building Blocks for a Quality Life -Part 2

Integrity

Integrity is one of the crucial blocks necessary to uphold a structure that will endure. It is valuable because it retains its qualities.

The Latin word integer from which integrity evolved means whole or state of being complete or one. Every integer is constant—they do not change with temperature or pressure. They remain the same regardless of the environment, depth or height. The number five, for example, will remain the same in all conditions because integers do not change in value.

Is it a good building material?

Let us consider a house you decided to build with bricks. The next day you returned from work to find that the bricks became wood or metal, changing the shape, look or structure of your building. I do not think you would be excited about the development because it will certainly put it at risk and will not fulfil the purpose you had in mind.

If you use wood, you would like it to remain wood, and if you use bricks, you would like it to stay that way because you have considered the property of the material before the decision to use it. If it has the potential to change to what you do not know, it constitutes a risk and becomes unreliable; wise builders will not consider it a useful material or resource.

In the same way, people of value want to work with reliable people.

If you desire to become a valuable person, you cannot afford to use materials that change with time. Some people decide to change to get quick gains or benefits, but such things rarely last. It is possible to have a quick win by cheating people, but time is very good at revealing the truth. A time will come when the truth will come to light, and that will be the beginning of the little cracks that will damage the building.

It is not always easy, but it is a decision worth much more in the long run.

If you believe in it, you will stand for it at all costs, even when there is no benefit for you.

“If you hope to build a lasting structure, you need to be like an integer that remains the same in principle and value despite the changing circumstances. “

Anyone who chooses to change with changes in temperature and pressure will not be showing the characteristics of an integer. One day the individual could be one living one way, then another day, the actions or words portray the opposite.

The world needs people that have this quality. It is not just a valuable trait, but one sought in every area of life. The good thing about it is that it attracts, so you get attracted to people with similar values, which also helps to form healthy relationships.

Have you lost some important clients? Have you lost some valuable friends or opportunities? The decision probably was against you because they did not find you to be an integer. The different checks did not reveal the same integer, so they thought you were not really who you say or act you are.

The lack of it has crumbled so many personalities and robbed many of great opportunities. It is easy to build without it, but the higher you go, the greater the potential fall—it will not hold for long; it will cause a crash at some point.

If you hope to build a lasting structure, you need to be like an integer that remains the same in principle and value despite the changing circumstances. You have time to start afresh to build something worthwhile. You will soon become a treasure sought out by your generation if you keep to your decision.
