Order I
Have you ever wondered why a group of people do the same thing in the same way? For example, various skilled workers may be called to assist in a building project and could progress it to completion. How could different people with different opinions, thoughts, and preferences achieve a common goal?
There is a plan that guides the builders of every good structure. Some details ensure everything sits in the right place. It helps to achieve the goal. It does not just happen; there is a determination to follow a pattern, sequence, method, or arrangement to reach the desired goal.
In a building, you will find a window, door, roof, wall, etc. The blocks have to be arranged in a certain way to achieve the desired partition. For example, the wall could collapse if the building blocks follow an unrecommended pattern.
The plan guides everyone to place each block in the right place to ensure that there is room for everything else, like windows, doors, and pillars.
“There could be chaos when people do good things without following the approved way.”
Imagine a builder turns up to assist on the project and adds more blocks without following the pattern; the result would be confusion. He would probably add blocks to the space reserved for windows and create space where there should have been blocks. The result is confusion.
When everyone working on a project does their own thing without following an agreed pattern, the result is chaos, even when the individual action is good. There could be chaos when people do good things without following the approved way.
Imagine a workplace that agrees to put recycling materials in a red bin to help ease processing and reuse. However, if some people decide to use it to dispose of food waste, there would be a problem. The laws could be different from one place to another, but order results when they are adhered to because everyone follows the guide.
There is order in an organisation or community when everyone follows the agreed pattern. There is an agreement on what is acceptable and what is not, so when people ignore or disobey the rules, they get punishment to ensure that there is order.
The effect is that many people will see the reward of compliance and do their best to abide by the rules.
“There is order in an organisation or community when everyone follows the agreed pattern.”
There could be some reasons for the chaos we see around us—first, the absence of an agreed rule. Second, if regulations do exist, probably the enforcement is done partially, unfairly, or not at all. Third, the existing laws are irrelevant and cannot achieve the desired goal.
One of the signs you would notice in an orderly environment is that everyone, or the majority of people, is committed to following the agreed pattern. You can achieve order in your life and environment because it is simply a commitment to a way proven to produce the desired result.
